When is Memorial Day 2022?
Memorial Day 2022 is a federal holiday in the U.S., observed on May’s last Monday every year. And because it’s a federal holiday, here’s a list of places that will remain closed on that joyous day:

Since the observation takes place on the last Monday of every May, the date keeps changing. For this year,2022, the date will be on May 30th. What is the History of Memorial Day 2022?
Originally, the day was called “Decoration Day” to remember all those who passed away in military service for the United States. Many news platforms have claimed that over 20 different places now observe Memorial Day for their fallen military personnel.
President Lyndon Johnson himself, in 1966, marked Waterloo, N.Y., as the origin of Memorial Day. Regardless, Memorial Day officially became a federal holiday for the entire U.S. in 1971 under the ruling of Congress’s 1968 act.
Unofficially, reports and claims from historical data suggest that the first Memorial Day was observed in 1868. That means observing Memorial Day is a 154-year-old U.S. custom. However, some historical data sources report the first unofficial Memorial Day to be on May 1st, 1865, i.e., two weeks prior to the end of the Civil War.
Different sources also report that the freed slaves in South Carolina observed the ceremony where they reburied the fallen Union soldiers. Hence, honoring them with proper burials in return for their sacrifice and the hardships they endured.

The day doesn’t necessarily mark the anniversary of any battles, i.e., the major battles in the history of America. In simple words, it’s a special day that brings out the patriots in our hearts to remember the brave men who did not hesitate to lay down their lives for their country and people.
