This Labor Day, we’d like to recognize our longest-tenured employee: Jesus de la Rosa.
Jesus began working as the 18th employee at our Northridge location in 1975, eight years after Brent’s Deli was founded.
“The staff was much smaller — about a quarter or half the amount that we have today,” he recalls. “But we’re just as busy now as we were back then.”
Jesus has seen a large part of Brent’s Deli’s transformation from a local deli with one delivery truck, to a two-location establishment that’s been voted the number-one Restaurant & Delicatessen by ZAGAT for 17 years.
“It’s been great to be a part of,” he says.
“I love my job.”
Jesus says his best memories at Brent’s Deli are of Ron Peskin — the founder of Brent’s Deli, whose known amongst the staff as Ronnie — “working the wheel” everyday during lunch.
“Jesus is what you would call a perfect employee,” Ron says. “He has always been there for me and Brent’s Deli.”
