Comfort is something we want all of our customers to feel at Brent’s Deli, but this is especially true for long-time patron Julie Visner.
“After my weekly oncology appointments, my family meets at Brent’s Deli in Northridge to enjoy the positive, warm, inviting environment and excellent food,” Julie says, “and to decompress from all the serious medical news.”
That news came on New Year’s Eve in 2009, when Julie was diagnosed with terminal blood cancer.
“Several of the servers know us and have seen me go from blonde hair to no hair to new hair since my treatments.”
Julie was hospitalized for a month during the summer of 2010 for high-dose chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant, but that didn’t stop her from battling back and regaining her appetite.
“Your wonderful soups helped bring my chemo-destroyed appetite back! I remember feeling like a kid at Disneyland when my appetite finally returned and I could indulge at Brent’s Deli,” Julie says.
“You’ve helped heal me without even knowing it.”
